About the Family
A warm, welcoming, and active private family in Armonk, NY, is seeking an experienced, nurturing, and engaging part-time nanny to care for their six-month-old daughter. The family is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with infants and will provide attentive, hands-on care while encouraging their daughter's development through play, reading, music, and age-appropriate activities.
Both parents primarily work from home, so the nanny must be comfortable working in a household where the parents are frequently present. The family enjoys an active lifestyle, spending time outdoors, taking walks, and exploring nature.
- Children: One six-month-old infant girl
- Home Size: Private residence
- Pets: One large, friendly dog and one cat. Candidates must genuinely enjoy animals and be comfortable around pets.
- Household Staff: No additional household staff currently employed.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, loving, and developmentally appropriate care for the infant.
- Engage the baby in hands-on, age-appropriate activities, including Montessori-inspired play, sensory activities, reading, and singing.
- Encourage developmental milestones, curiosity, and exploration.
- Take the baby for stroller walks and supervised outdoor activities around the property.
- Assist with bottle feeding and the introduction of solid foods, following the parents' specific instructions and preferences.
- Follow the family's feeding guidelines and instructions regarding food introduction and allergens. Parents will handle allergen testing.
- Maintain a tidy and organized environment throughout the day, including washing bottles and cleaning up after the baby's activities.
- Exercise good judgment and be mindful of the home's antiques, furnishings, and designated child-friendly areas.
- Work comfortably alongside parents who primarily work from home while maintaining a calm and professional environment.
- Be attentive to the family's pets and comfortable sharing the home with a large dog and cat.
Additional Opportunity: The family would welcome a candidate interested in combining nanny responsibilities with household cleaning. For the right person, additional housekeeping hours may be available, potentially increasing the schedule to approximately 30 hours per week or more. This is optional.
Ideal Candidate & Personality
The ideal candidate is warm, nurturing, energetic, and genuinely passionate about infant care. They should be highly engaged, proactive, and knowledgeable about infant development, with a natural ability to encourage learning and exploration through meaningful activities. The family values someone who is mature, conscientious, trustworthy, and demonstrates excellent judgment. Punctuality, reliability, and attention to detail are essential, as both parents have structured work schedules and primarily work from home.
The nanny should be comfortable working independently, maintaining a peaceful and organized environment, and respecting the family's home and furnishings. Someone who enjoys an active lifestyle, outdoor activities, and animals would be an excellent fit. The family is hoping to find a dedicated caregiver interested in a long-term position who will become a trusted and valued part of their daughter's life.
