Full-Time Driver/Security – West Village, NY

Overview

A private family in the West Village is seeking a full-time Driver with a background in military or law enforcement. The ideal candidate will have deep familiarity with New York City and a strong focus on safety, discretion, and professionalism. The role involves transporting the principals and children to school, appointments, and activities, with an emphasis on efficiency and security.

During July, the family resides in Bedford, and the Driver will be expected to commute there daily. In August, the family travels, offering the Driver a period of reduced or off-duty time, creating a balanced overall schedule. The general schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with flexibility required as needed. This is a long-term opportunity with a respectful and established household.

Responsibilities

• Plan routes, directions, and logistics in advance to ensure timely and efficient transportation
• Communicate with household staff to stay aligned with the family’s evolving schedule
• Oversee vehicle maintenance, ensuring all servicing and records are current
• Maintain vehicles in excellent condition at all times, including fuel levels, cleanliness, and passenger comfort
• Respond quickly and effectively to any unsafe conditions or travel disruptions, making real-time adjustments as needed
• Work collaboratively with another driver to ensure seamless coverage and scheduling
• Maintain a high level of discretion and professionalism when interacting with the family and staff
• Manage multiple priorities and remain composed under pressure
• Identify and address potential risks or inconveniences proactively
• Maintain constant situational awareness
• Anticipate the needs of the principals

Requirements

• Comfortable transporting children with a strong focus on safety
• Pet-friendly
• License to carry
• Background in law enforcement, military, executive protection, corporate security, or similar
• Basic computer proficiency
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Defensive and offensive driving training or equivalent experience
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Comfortable driving a Lincoln Navigator
• Fluent in English
• Authorized to work in the United States

Compensation and Benefits

• $175,000+ annually, depending on experience
