Part-Time Housekeeper/Laundress – West Village, NYC

Overview

A warm and respectful couple in the West Village, NYC is seeking a dedicated housekeeper/laundress to join their home and work alongside a long-standing team member who has been with the family for over a decade. This role is designed as a true partnership, not a hierarchical position, with shared responsibilities and a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Over time, duties may naturally expand as trust and familiarity grow.

The household values a supportive, “all hands on deck” mindset, emphasizing mutual respect, flexibility, and genuine care for the home. The position reports to both the Principal and the House Manager.

The schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, working in tandem with the existing housekeeper whose hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, allowing for staggered coverage. There is potential for additional hours in the future by mutual agreement.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping & Household Care

• Maintain daily cleanliness and organization of the 6th-floor living spaces and primary suite
• Care for bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and common areas to a high standard
• Perform tasks such as bed making, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, tidying, and organizing

Laundry & Wardrobe Care

• Manage all laundry and linen care, including washing, folding, light ironing, and organization
• Handle delicate fabrics and garments with care

Errands & Household Support

• Run household errands and complete shopping both in person and online
• Assist with general household tasks as needed
• Driving is preferred for errands and potential future support at the family’s upstate property

Technology & Home Systems Support

• Assist with household technology, including maintaining iPads and ensuring systems like Sonos and other smart-home tools are functioning properly
• Serve as a point of contact for basic tech support within the home
• Communicate clearly via WhatsApp and email

Team Collaboration

• Work closely and cooperatively with the existing housekeeper
• Share responsibilities and assist one another based on daily needs
• Maintain open, respectful communication at all times

Future Growth & Additional Support

• Take on expanded responsibilities as the role evolves
• Provide occasional support at the family’s upstate property, particularly during summer months (note: external cleaners and a gardener are already in place; this role supplements existing staff)

Compensation and Benefits

• $50–$55 per hour
• Guaranteed 30 hours per week
