Position Overview
An experienced, detail-oriented, and discreet Housekeeper is sought to oversee the care and cleanliness of a large, formal townhome on the Upper East Side (7 – floors) . This is a full-time position working for a private family of four, including two adults and two young children (no pets).
The Housekeeper will work closely with the nanny and the weekend housekeeper/laundress to ensure the home is maintained to the highest standard. The ideal candidate is highly organized, professional, and accustomed to working in a formal household setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily cleaning, organization, and upkeep of a multi-level formal townhome
- Ensure housekeeping tasks are completed to museum-quality standards
- Perform hands-on cleaning as needed, including fine surfaces and delicate materials
- Manage household cleaning supplies and inventory
- Assist with light family cooking as needed (simple family meals)
- Maintain a high level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism
- Coordinate with household staff to ensure seamless daily operations
- Travel to the Hamptons on occasion during the summer months (flexibility required)
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-end private household
- Prior supervisory or head housekeeper experience preferred
- Experience working in a formal home with high standards of service
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Team player with a hands-on, proactive approach
- Ability to prepare light meals when needed
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Excellent references from prior employers
